OCCA expands its ministry
Many of you know I am a bishop with the OCCA. We are a small inclusive jurisdiction founded over 100 years ago in Ceylon (Sri Lanka). We are predominantly Western Rite, but have folks like myself who are Oriental Rite, and others who are Byzantine Rite.
I have charge over those of us outside the continental USA. We have recently begun work in Kenya with Bishop Bernard (Kugeria) which we hope will become the Orthodox-Catholic Church of Africa. A century ago OCCA ordained the first black bishop in the USA for the African Orthodox Church (which has several surviving branches). They sent missionaries to Africa who later joined with the Patriarch of Alexandria.
Bishop Bernard wants to grow a church which like OCCA here is inclusive.
He could use your help with feeding children in rural Kenya. I m not sure if there is a better thing in the world to do - smile. You know I am an educator and a child who is hungry cannot learn.
